Create a product listing that customers understand

Write product listings that reduce confusion, improve buyer confidence, and prevent avoidable support messages.

Start with the customer question

A product listing should make the buying decision easier. Before writing the title or description, list the top questions a customer would ask: What is included, who is it for, what size or variant do I need, how long does it take to arrive, and what problem does it solve?

Avoid writing only from the seller side. Customers scan quickly, compare multiple sellers, and often message only when the listing leaves a gap. A detailed listing reduces message volume and improves conversion quality.

Build the listing in order

  1. Use a product title that identifies the item, key material or model, and the most important differentiator.
  2. Choose the correct category so search, filters, and related products can place it in the right context.
  3. Add variant names that are clear on their own, such as color, size, pack count, or compatibility.
  4. Write the first paragraph as a plain-language answer to what the product is and who should buy it.
  5. Use bullet details for dimensions, ingredients, materials, care, compatibility, warranty, and what is in the box.
  6. Preview the product page on desktop and mobile before publishing.

Prevent common listing issues

Most product questions come from missing measurements, unclear variants, weak images, hidden shipping limits, or vague words like premium and universal. Replace those words with specific facts.

  • Every image matches the selected product or variant.
  • The price and sale price are intentional.
  • Inventory and variant stock are accurate.
  • Shipping, return, and handling expectations are not contradicted by the description.
  • The listing avoids medical, safety, or performance claims you cannot support.
